Artists Remember Fredo Santana On Social Media


Young Chop, Drake, Lil Durk and more share memories of the Chicago rapper following his unexpected death.
Early this morning, news of Chicago rapper Fredo Santana’s death began to circulate on social media. A few hours later, reports confirmed that Fredo had suffered a fatal seizure in his L.A. home Friday night. Over the hours since the news first broke, many of Fredo’s friends and collaborators have shared their condolences on social media.
The first message came from Maxo Kream, who collaborated with Fredo on multiple occasions. “Damn man I’m lost for words right now I’m cryin my ass off Fredo I love yu Bitch RIP a real Savage,” he wrote on Instagram.
Some of Fredo’s peers in the Chicago scene were shocked by the news. “This one fucked my head up i can’t even lie ? rest up young king,” wrote Lil Durk. Young Chop, a producer who worked with Fredo on many occasions, shared a photo of the two at a home studio. “? love you bro ? this one fucked me up,” he said.
Fredo had been battling drug abuse due to PTSD. He spoke of a seizure he suffered as a result of drug use that landed him in the hospital with liver and kidney failure earlier this year. He had plans to enter rehab and conquer his addiction.
UPDATE: Chief Keef, Fredo’s cousin and frequent collaborator has shared a message following the rapper’s unexpected death. “Stop saying Fredo was my friend, That’s my cousin, Big difference,” he wrote on Twitter. On Instagram, Keef shared a screencap of he and Fredo’s collaboration “Tell Nobody.” He captioned the post, “Love you Dude for ever It was good to be able to hug you…” Keef has also retweeted a number of gifs of his late cousin shared with him by fans.
