Reports say Questlove and NBC are accused of firing two white guys because of an alleged racist text.
NBC’s “Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” has been a major success since first aired. It resonated with many hip hop fans as well because of the fact that The Roots are the backing band on the show. While there’s been a few controversies surrounding the show, the damage has never been so bad that it would result in a lawsuit. However, a recent report says Questlove and NBC are in hot water.
Questlove and NBC are facing a lawsuit after firing two white camera guys because of a racist text they received, according to TMZ. Former Tonight Show cameramen, Kurt Decker and Michael Cimino, have filed a lawsuit against the TV network and the Roots drummer after claiming that they were fired from false blame and “racial retaliation” after receiving a racist text Quest seemed to find out about.
According to the documents, someone who worked on set of the show sent an unwarranted text to Roots member, Mark Kelley, Cimino and Decker while taping an episode of the show last year. They say they never asked for the text nor responded to it and later on, tried to explain that to executives at NBC to try and disassociate their names to the racist texts.
Apparently, Questlove heard about it and asked NBC to fire both camera operators which the network complied to. However, it seems that Kelley didn’t receive any punishment for the situation.
