The Internet does what it does best.
It was a show already draped in controversy. In the days leading up to the Super Bowl, many of the headlines fell on the match’s Halftime Show, performed by Justin Timberlake this year. Most of the talk surrounded debunked rumors of special guests like Janet Jackson and NYSYNC, neither of which made an actual appearance Sunday evening.
While the majority of JT’s performance included a trip a down memory lane as he selected popular cuts from earlier on in his solo career, he managed to gather a great deal of criticism and praise for a few aspects, including his incorporation of a Prince tribute in the performance. Previous plans indicated that Timberlake planned to introduce a hologram of Prince during the show, but after a discusion with Sheila E., audiences were assured that no such thing would be present as it went against Prince’s own wishes.
Nonetheless, it didn’t keep Justin Timberlake from making use of video projection to use Prince’s image during a rendition of “I Would Die 4 U while lighting up the U.S. Bank Stadium in purple hues.
Still, the inclusion of Prince’s likeness didn’t go over too well with others while some fans could appreciate the homage paid. Check out what people have been saying about Justin Timberlake’s Super Bowl Halftime performance below.

JT really had the perfect opportunity to make everyone’s 2018 amazing by bringing out *NSYNC and he didn’t… #JustinTimberlake pic.twitter.com/7b6oL5AQng

Do you know how hard it is to remember choreography, sing, know which cameras or which way to look at, keep things at a certain pace, etc. Some people can't perform live because they aren't fit enough and can't control breathing. Kudos JT.#justintimberlake#SuperBowl pic.twitter.com/47sZ4WwkYD
