\nSouth African rapper, Cassper Nyovest, has taken sides with M.I Abaga on his view on the poor state of the Nigerian hip-hop culture. M.I Abaga challenged Nigerian rappers to step up their game on his controversial song, \u2018You Rappers Should Fix Up Your Life,\u2019 and Cassper Nyovest is saying the Chocolate City rapper was right to do so.
\nIn a recent interview with PulseNG, Cassper said: \u201cYes, South African Hip-hop is in the forefront of African Hip-hop in general. It might not be as popular as it is in South Africa in Nigeria.
\nBut I know for a fact that the rappers from Nigeria are kinda unknown in SA. If we talk about crossing over, I know that a lot of people in Nigeria know about my music. I know that in Kenya and Ghana it\u2019s the same thing.
\nI\u2019m not just talking about me, I\u2019m talking about the movement. Sarkodie is big in Ghana, but are there other rappers who are as big as Sarkodie from Ghana? The South African Hip-hop movement is big across, also in London, New York\u2026we are out there performing in different countries.
\nMe saying that might offend people here. They might feel that I\u2019m taking shots at Nigerian music. But that\u2019s not the deal. If we are to discuss in terms of numbers and appeal across the world, it\u2019s just the way it is.\u201d<\/p>\n
