Best friends Nicky Jam and J Balvin joined forces to release “X,” a song that fuses dancehall and reggae, which offers a new Caribbean tint to the urban genre. The song was written by Balvin, who called Nicky to tell him to have the song as next single.

“X” has since become very popular, hitting a new high of No. 71 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100, and many fans have started a movement called “X challenge,” which consists of submitting a one-minute video doing the dance step to the superstars.
